April layout and Step by Step by France Ringuette

Hi Blue Fern Fans, it's my turn today on the blog and I have 2 layouts for you today.

Câlin Step by Step layout with Wanderlost collection

This month, I would like to show you a step by step on building the foundation for this layout:

I always start my process by coating my paper with clear gesso. The clear gesso will act as a barrier and let you add watercolors or sprays easily to your layout.

Once my gesso is dry, I use a stencil and mat gel medium. Then I add my embossing powder to my gel medium and heat emboss. I love adding embossing to my backgrounds. I've found that gel mat medium works really well to emboss this way. I used Honey Embossing Powder on my layout.

Then I like to add inks to my background. I try to match my inks to some of the darker colors already on the paper. In this case, a dark teal blue. I sprints some water on the edges to give it a blurry effect and let it dry. You can use a heat gun to goa faster if you wish. Once dry, I use the same ink and add splatters with a small fine tip paintbrush and let dry again.

Last step for the background is to add some die-cut pieces and white some white glue, I add on some seedlings for extra texture. On this background I used the Harvest Seedlings.

For dimension, I enjoy adding chipboards to my pages. I heat embossed with a slightly darker tone this time to give contrast with the initial one placed on the background. On my chipboard I used Ginger Embossing Powder. I LOVE the metal effect it gives.

Last steps are just to layer your Pictures with different pieces of cut out paper, printed chipboard, flowers and ornements.

Here are a few more images of my layout:

The picture was taken at my son's high school graduation, it was a proud moment, I felt this quote was just perfect because it truly is what a hope for him to chose a career that will make him happy.

Blue Fern Studios products used:

Sassy... Serendipity collection

This quote spoke to me.... The Best Moments Happen when they are Unplanned....

oh how true.... I am a girl that is often spontaneous, so this quote is truly one perfect for me.

I truly love this Chesterville flower, soft and delicate it was perfect tp highlight the light colors on this beautiful background.

I also added the leaves and small black flowers from the Wanderlust Vine set.

Behind the quote I used ginger embossing powder with the Vintage Edges stamp set to give some texture on my background.

I love this Sassy chipboard title and wanted it to pop off the page. I also wanted to give focus on the teal elements of this gorgeous paper. I chose to add only a layer of Caribbean glitter over the chipboard, wow it gave a spectacular finish. Underneath is another piece of chipboard heat embossed with Ginger Embossing Powder. This one is becoming part of my favorites.

Two layouts with the new collections and a video tutorial by Wilma

My first post in 2016 and I am happy to tell you I will stay another year at Blue Fern Studio.

My first layout for today is one with a start to finish video .
I hope you find time to watch it .

I used the beautiful Timeless collection.
All the stamps and embossingpowders are from Blue Fern studios.

The video:

My second layout is made with the blush collection.
A Valentine themed line of papers.
But I think it is perfect for all kind of pictures because of its lightness.

I kept this layout light and playfull.
The Corner flourish chipboard was painted with  acrylicpaint.
After that I took away some of the brightness with white ink.

There are some cute little images on the papers .
I fussycut them and used them as little embellishments.

Thanks for visiting the blog...
Have a nice day

Snowy feelings....from Switzerland.

I hope you had beautiful Christmas days .
In Switzerland there was no snow , it was warm and the tourists are dissapointed.
Since I wanted to make a snowfeeling layout I took  pictures from last year.

For my background I used a paper from the vintage Christmas collection.
I added clear gesso on both sides to make the paper sturdy .
It also helps to have a flat page.
On another (same) paper I doodled circles.
Than I punched some flowers out of it.
I took a a normal flowerpunch, and glue them in a pattern using both sides .
Behind my picture a paper with Swiss images I found at the tourist info .
The negative leftover pieces from the punching are tucked in between the layers.

Over the whole page I glued silverfolien , just little pieces here and there.
The chipboard is the charming snow medley piece.
I cut it in 4! pieces and used them all over the page.
All I did was painting 2 layers with my wink of stella pen.
The chipboard gets just a little darker with a beautiful soft shimmer.
The titel was also done like this, but just one layer with the glitterpen.
I rubbed some gesso over it to give that snowy feeling.

Vintage Christmas Collection - winter feeling

Hi, so nice you found the time to visit the blog in the busy Christmas weeks.
Not everybody on this world celebrates Christmas .
Today I want to show you that the beautiful Vintage Christmas collection can also be used on other themed layouts .
The first one is a mixed media page on my favorite paper from the collection.
The background is gessod and for the color I used alcohol inks.
The title piece xoxo was painted white and I added some fairydust when it was still wet.
It gives a beautiful glitsery shine, which is hard to see in the picture.

I cut a Brick Ring in two and colored it with two colors ink.
The background stamps come from my favorit stamps out of the collection

My next layout is made after the beautiful sketch for this month challenge.

For me,  this picture shows the line between fall and winter.
I wanted to mirror the picture in my background.
There is a lot of stamping going on .
The chipboard grid piece was perfect to tuck under my photo cluster.
It holds the natural feeling I like .
The titel piece is embossed in dark brown.

Thanks for visiting the blog and Merry Christmas to all of you.

Two layouts , two different collections by Wilma Voermans

I cant believe it is already a month ago my last blogpost was on.
And only 6 weeks untill Christmas!
But let us first say goodbye to fall , my most favorit season.
Fall in Switzerland is so beautiful .

Lets go over to my first layout I would love to share with you.

When I start a scrapbookpage, I never know what I am going to do excactly.
I grab a picture, and choose the papers.
For this paper from the Love Story collection I had a masculine page in mind.
Well, as you see it ended up as a feminine page.
The picture I used was not that great in the start, a lot going on in the background.
But my daughter in law has beautiful eyes , so I decided to use just that part.

The chipboard piece I used is the crosshatch frame .
I first embossed it in red, but I changed my mind and dapped it random with black patina.
Here and there I left a little red peeking through .

On my background I used the glitter Phoenix , I just spread here and there on my wet gesso.
In real life it gives a great effect!

The second layout I like to share with you is light as spring .
My daughter asked for a layout with this picture.
I think it is perfect for the Ombre Dreams collection.
I made this layout after the beautiful November sketch, a design by Michele Singh.

The chipboard piece Tech panel is versatile.
I choose it to get some grunch feeling and tone down all that sweetness :)
I am a big fan of the chipboard negatives.
They give the chipboard sturdyness for shipping.
But they also give me fun and crazy shapes, I never throw them away!
Here I took out the circles from the tech panel , colored them ,
a few doodles and there you have small embellishments

The techpanel piece is just painted with silver/iron colored paint .
To match the iron my granddaughter holds her hands on in the picture.
